Every person who likes golf is working to improve their golf swings. After all, part of the fun of playing a game is trying to get the best score possible. Getting the best score depends on your having a good golf swing. The only way to get a good golf swing is to work at it. As with any thing else, in order to improve you will need to practice. You can improve your golf swing and game with the following tips.
One way to approach your swing is to compare it to music. The success of both hinge on a good tempo, steady rhythm, and balance. You can’t have a good piece of music without a solid foundation. Your stance is the foundation that you build your entire golf swing on.
With your feet spread at varying distances, take practice shots to find what feels the best. Be sure to try both wide and narrow stances. You will hit upon a stance that feels good to you (usually it is shoulder width apart) and that becomes your core stance. You want to be able to stride right into your stance so you’ll want to practice it. When hitting the ball, be sure to focus on hitting through and down. The ball will rise when the club lifts if you follow through with your swing. The ball will not rise because you somehow tried to do an upswing motion on the club. That is a mistaken approach to hitting and always avoid doing it. Hitting it the wrong way like that will produce little distance plus some height – that is if you actually hit the ball. You can avoid the pain of seeing the ball go fairly straight – only up, and then gravity takes over and it comes straight down, head’s up again!
You should always practice before starting a game. It’s a common misconception that what feels good to you one day, will feel good to you the next day. Take some time at the driving range or practice area before you head out onto the course or into the tournament. Because there are variable elements when playing golf, warming up will allow you to make any needed adjustments to your stance and swing. Shooting at the driving range will help you figure out how to compensate for wind and other natural issues. As with any other sport, you should take the time to warm up before playing. It’s the same principle as a runner stretching out their calves before a race.
The fact of the matter is improving your golf game simply means improving your balance at the core and improving your posture. These easy techniques help ensure maximum efficiency on the ball when contact is made. You will get better distance and even more accurate aim doing this. There are alot of people who believe improving your golf swing is hard. This however is a misconception it really only takes alot of practice. Keep working at it and soon you will see your swing has improved by quite a lot!
